Kath Peberdy
European Tumbling Champion
European Championships, Bulgaria, June 2004
Seven years after winning the World title, Wirral Gymnastics Club's Kath Peberdy became the European Champion in Tumbling! With her unique height and style, and beating Russian and Ukrainian challengers Korobeynikova and Chabanenko, she deservedly took first place on the podium in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Kath started in Women's Artistic gymnastics at the age of four. She was successful in numerous competitions including winning County and North-west championships. Her vaulting and tumbling skills were always very powerful, and set her apart from her peers. This talent led her to work with the National Tumbling squad at the age of 14.
The rest, as they say, is history. Her major achievements speak for themselves, but nobody who saw the Tumbling World Championships in Manchester in 1997 will ever forget seeing Kath become Britain's first ever overall Tumbling World Champion.
Kath is currently a successful Tumbling Coach with Richmond Gymnastics Club. She is also a Club Tumbling Judge.
